Travel Documents
A LAISSEZ-PASSER is a travel document of the Republic of Croatia issued by an embassy or consulate of the Republic of Croatia to Croatian citizens who are residing or find themselves abroad without a travel document (lost, stolen, or inaccessible), for the purpose of returning to Croatia. The spouse and children of the laissez-passer user may use the same laissez-passer if they are also included in the laissez-passer, with respective photographs.
The laissez-passer is issued for a period that is necessary for return to Croatia, but not longer than 30 days.
What to enclose with the application?
An application for a laissez-passer is submitted in person, along with the following:
- expired current passport/identity card/other identity document/international birth certificate or birth certificate on a prescribed form (for newborns)
- two identical 3.0 x 3.5 cm-sized photographs
- a consular fee is charged in accordance with the Administrative Fees Act – payment in cash is not accepted
Additionally required for minors:
- birth certificate
- the application is submitted by a parent/legal representative
The laissez-passer is only valid for the return journey to the Republic of Croatia. The laisser-passez can be issued the same day if all legal requirements have been met.
