Residence
Pursuant to the Residence Act (OG 144/12, 158/13, 114/22), all persons who have been living abroad for more than one year are required to register temporary departure from the Republic of Croatia, i.e. deregister their permanent residence in the Republic of Croatia.
Those who plan to stay abroad temporarily are required to register their temporary departure from the Republic of Croatia.
In that case, the following should be enclosed with the application:
- valid identity card
- proof of residence abroad (certificate of address in the country of residence)
- proof of reason for residing abroad (e.g. certificate of education, employment contract, etc.).
The application can be submitted to the competent police administration or police station in the place of permanent residence in the Republic of Croatia or to the competent embassy or consulate of the Republic of Croatia abroad.
Persons permanently emigrating from the Republic of Croatia are required to submit an application to deregister their permanent residence, accompanied by the following:
- identity card and
- certificate of address in the country of residence in which the person has settled.
The application is submitted in person, and in case of minors, by their parents or legal representatives.
A consular fee is charged in accordance with the Administrative Fees Act – payment in cash is not accepted.
